How StoryLLM handles your data.

Last Updated: July 26, 2024

StoryLLM ("we," "us," or "our") operates the StoryLLM software application ("Software"), website (StoryLLM.Com), and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our Service. Our core principle is to collect the minimum information necessary to provide you with the Software license and support, while maximizing your privacy by processing AI tasks locally on your computer.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect (and Importantly, What We Don't)

Personal Data We Collect:

To provide you with a license for the Software and manage your subscription, we collect the following minimal personal information:

  • Name and Surname: To identify you as a licensee.
  • Email Address: For account creation, login, license key delivery, important notifications, and support communication.
  • Billing Address: Required by our payment processor for transaction verification and invoicing purposes.
Payment Information (Handled by Third Party):
Data We Explicitly DO NOT Collect via the Software:
  • Your Input Content: The text, stories, prompts, scripts, or any other content you type or paste into the StoryLLM Software for generating videos or images using *local* AI models (like Ollama, local Stable Diffusion/Diffusers, Kokoro TTS) **stays on your computer.** It is processed locally and is **never sent to or stored on our servers.**
  • Your Generated Content: The videos, images, and audio files created by the Software using local processing **remain solely on your computer.** We do not access, collect, or store your generated media.
  • Local AI Model Usage Details: While you configure the software to use certain local models, we do not track the specific prompts or detailed parameters you use with these local models.
Data Processed via Optional Cloud Services:

The Software offers *optional* integrations with third-party cloud AI services (e.g., OpenAI API, Google Gemini API, ElevenLabs API) and the YouTube API for uploads.

  • If, and only if, you *choose* to activate and use these optional cloud integrations by providing your own API keys or authenticating your accounts (like YouTube), the necessary data (e.g., text for cloud LLM processing, audio for ElevenLabs, video for YouTube upload) will be sent directly from your computer to that specific third-party provider.
  • The collection and use of data by these third parties are governed entirely by their respective privacy policies. We strongly recommend you review them. StoryLLM only facilitates the connection you initiate.
Usage Data & Technical Data (Collected for Service Operation):
  • Anonymized Software Usage Data (Optional/If Implemented): We *may* collect limited, anonymous diagnostic data (e.g., application crashes, feature usage frequency *without* content details) solely to improve software stability and performance. This data is aggregated and cannot identify you or your specific content. You may have an option to disable this in settings.
  • Website Usage Data: When you visit StoryLLM.Com, we collect standard browser-sent information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for website analytics and security, often using cookies.
  • License Activation/Verification Data: To ensure your software license is valid, we need to verify your purchase and activation status using data linked to your account (email, license key).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect strictly for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Manage the Service: Create your account, deliver your license key, verify your license status, and allow you to use the purchased Software.
  • To Process Payments: Facilitate payment transactions through our secure third-party processor using your billing address for verification.
  • To Communicate With You: Send important service-related notices (e.g., subscription renewals, critical updates), respond to your support requests via [email protected], and provide requested information.
  • To Improve Our Service: Analyze *anonymized* usage data (if collected) to fix bugs and enhance software functionality.
  • For Security and Compliance: Prevent fraud, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.

We do NOT use your Name, Email, or Billing Address for profiling or sharing with unrelated third parties for marketing.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Payment Processor: We share necessary information (like billing address, transaction details) with our payment processor (e.g., PayTR, Stripe) solely to process your payment securely. Their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policy.
  • Optional Cloud Integrations (User-Initiated): As stated above, if you choose to use optional third-party cloud services through the Software, your data is sent directly to them under their policies.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud.
  • Business Transfers: If StoryLLM undergoes a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information might be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to notice and the commitments made in this Privacy Policy.

Other than these specific cases, we do not share your collected personal information (Name, Email, Billing Address) with any other third parties.

4. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect the limited personal information we store (Name, Email, Billing Address, license data) from unauthorized access or disclosure. However, no system is impenetrable. Payment data security is primarily handled by our processor.

The security of your locally processed Input Content and Generated Content relies on the security of your own computer.

5. Data Retention

We retain your Name, Email, Billing Address, and license information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We will securely delete or anonymize your information when it's no longer required.

6. Your Data Protection Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights such as accessing, correcting, deleting, or restricting the use of the personal information we hold about you (Name, Email, Billing Address). You can usually manage some information via your account settings or by contacting us at [email protected]. We will respond to requests in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

Our Service (Software and Website) may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., payment processor, optional cloud APIs). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page (StoryLLM.Com/privacy) and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
